LOCATIONS

Engagement shoots are a great way to get to know your photographer before booking wedding day coverage!

Sessions are normally scheduled in the late afternoon when the light near sunset is the most flattering, and the temperature cooler. This is normally about 90 minutes before sunset.

Most engagement shoots are scheduled for Sundays, but they can also be booked on weekdays. Locations include Roma Street Parklands and Mt Coot-Tha Gardens, but I personally recommend Roma Street Parklands because it’s kept looking great all year round.

On that note, any month of the year is great for portraits at Roma St Parklands, the main thing is that we try to choose a nice fine day close to sunset.

INSURANCE

I like to think of an enagement shoot as insurance for your wedding day, should the weather not be ideal. It also means you have some great photos to use immediately online, whether that be for social media or invitations.

Because we always try to find a nice fine day to shoot your engagement photos, you can be guaranteed of beautiful sun-kissed photos! You may also choose to shoot your couples portraits for a shorter period of time on your wedding day as a result, meaning more time with guests.

EDITING & DELIVERY

Editing engagement photos takes longer to edit than candid wedding or event photography. I take hundreds of photos, and then curate and select the best, before individually editing these. You can expect around 60 portraits in total for a standard 45 minute session.

You and any other family members or friends you provide gallery access are welcome to download and print from the maximum resolution files.

The delivery time for all photos is 30 days from the date of the shoot.

INVITATION OR WEDDING WEBSITE

I also send 10-15 photos through edited the next day which many couples find super useful to:

Promote an enagement party, save the date or for use on the invitation.
Promote the wedding or use on the invitation.
Use on a wedding website.

WHATS INVOLVED

I will have scenes in mind that work best for the prevailing light and backdrops, and will simply guide and direct you throughout the whole shoot at Roma Street Parklands. It will be a mixture of both fluid (walking, interacting etc.) and posed photos.

A WALK IN THE PARK

Engagement shoots are pretty similar to couples portrait sessions on your wedding day. They are more relaxed though because you haven’t just walked down the aisle! You can also wear more comfortable clothing and shoes than you might on your wedding day, and postpone if the weather is poor.

They make great additions or even complete substitutes for wedding day couples portrait sessions, meaning you can spend more time with guests on your wedding day.

Pricing includes a phone call or video chat to plan the session (which takes about 10-15 minutes). Engagement photos are delivered at social media resolution (2048 pixels) and at maximum resolution in a beautiful, shareable online (password protected) gallery, which you can print from to your heart’s content (hosted for two years).

If you also end up booking me for your wedding day, the engagement gallery can be combined with the wedding day gallery (on a separate tab).

WEATHER RAINCHECK

We can’t control the weather, but we can postpone or reschedule the engagement shoot if the weather is not ideal (at your discretion).

Normally this is due to a rain forecast. There is no cost for rescheduling, and it just depends on finding another day when we are all available. That way, you are guaranteed to get the best possible weather (which is not always possible on your wedding day!).

TERMS

As the cost of an engagement shoot is similar to a deposit for a wedding booking, I request full payment of the engagement shoot to reserve the initial date of the shoot. Then as we get closer to the date, we will firm up the date once the weather is confirmed to be fine, partly cloudy or otherwise suitable for the shoot. It’s always your choice whether to postpone the shoot to another day, as I know you may have arranged hair and makeup or made other commitments.
