Weddings can be inherently stressful affairs, yet I've rarely encountered a more serene sanctuary than Walkabout Creek in Enoggera. Perhaps it's the constant bird chitter chatter threading through the canopy, the crisp bushland air, or simply the absence of digital noise—but stepping into this basin of bush feels like shedding a weight you didn't know you were carrying!

As one of Brisbane's most sought-after wedding venues, most couples exchange vows at the Amphitheatre itself - a photographer's dream for both composition and the natural position of the sun (behind the couple but filtered through the trees).

This particular day delivered flawless weather, and thanks to meticulous planning with the couple, we began portraits at that 'goldilocks' moment—everything just right.. At venues like Walkabout Creek (and Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens springs to mind), nailing your portrait ‘heading off’ timing on a sunny day is everything.

While Walkabout Creek may lack the riot of color found at Roma Street Parklands, it compensates with superior and authentic Australian bushland that transforms into pure magic as golden hour approaches. The meandering paths and native foliage create an intimate, organic backdrop that feels both timeless and uncontrived.

For this stunning couple, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, it proved the perfect canvas for their celebration.

This wedding also reinforced my belief that Brisbane winters are vastly underrated for weddings. Noone really felt any cold at all until well after dark, and by then everyone was inside the warm reception room.
